My Fall Picks!

While it may be spring, I can't help but look forward to all the fall fashion shows! It's hard to believe I will be starting college in the fall, but it's the perfect opportunity for me to re-invent myself (style-wise).

My Wants!

My Wants! by larrea

#1. Red Topshop Blazer
I already own this blazer and I know it's going to be a well-worn piece in the fall. The thing I love about it is not only the color, but it's actually quite universal. I can wear it with jeans and boots, a pair of jean shorts and ankle boots, or even a nice pair of wax black skinnies and wedge trainers.

#2. Burberry Sunglasses
I know that fall isn't the most popular time to wear sunglasses, but what dresses up a lazy day outfit more than a pair of designer sunglasses! I can wear them any season, and they look great with a beanie for those days when the snow has fallen and for some odd reason somehow it's sunny. It's Washington, what do you expect? The weather here is so beyond random.

#3. Studded Buckle Ankle Boots
Okay, I don't even know where to begin with how cute these really are! These may not be so popular in the U.S. right now, but they are going to be, and I will have them when that time comes. These paired with black skinnies and a moto jacket would be indescribable. Gah, I just love them!

#4. Celine Inspired Chain Necklace
Let's be honest here. I do not have $3500 to spare on a chain necklace, but I do have $10 + shipping for a similar necklace off Etsy. This necklace has, and will, look great with anything. It looks good with a t-shirt, your favorite little black dress, sweaters, you name it- it looks great with it.

#5. Valentino Bow Tote
What I love about this tote is the fact that it's cute, and kind of out there with the bow, but plain enough to go with almost anything. I could see myself carrying this wearing boots and a blazer, a cute black dress and nude heels, or to work in trousers and a blazer. It's cute, will go with anything, and will fit a decent amount of stuff too!

So there you have it! My list of my favorite fall items!

My Favorite Blogs

For me my morning is complete without looking through my favorite blogs. I have this obsession with UK fashion/style so I usually spend a lot of time on those. Here are some of my favorites:

#1. This Fashion is Mine by +Gwen McMullin

This is one of my absolute favorites because her style is so cute and edgy, I just love it. She posts tons of cute DIY's (Like this super cute drop spike drop spike necklace).

#2. VIPXO by Victoria India

Not only does this blogger have the coolest initials ever (VIP!), every week she posts these cute little ebay inspired pictures where she tags cool stuff she's found on Ebay. I always check her blog if I want any beauty or fashion advice.

#3. +Doe A Deery

This blog, run by 9 different women, is so fun! I found this gem searching for cute hairstyles on youtube, and I found one of the bloggers videos, and boy am I glad. They have a little bit of everything so far- cute DIY's, inspirational messages, hairstyle tips, fashion advice.

#4. Nany's Closet by Daniela Remirez

I found Daniela on Lookbook about a month ago. Her outfit posts are awesome and great for inspiration. She has style that anyone can relate to. She has posts were she shows three different outfits based around a single piece (like a cute top, color skinny jeans, or shoes).

#5. Dans le Townhouse

This blog is loaded with cute DIY's and decorating inspiration for the home. Whether it's the vintage Hungarian posters or a cute diy ombre canvas painting, you are bound to find something to love about this blog!

#6. +Oh Happy Day
This blog is DIY central. Seriously. Every single post is a cute and easy to make DIY. She had a collection of posts called "Party In A Box" where she had a box of supplies, and each time she "decorated" a different themed party with the same items, just in different ways!

What I Wore: Rachel Zoe Inspired

Yesterday I headed to the airport to pick up my sister at 3am. Yes, 3 AM. Her flight from Newark, NJ was originally supposed to land at around 10pm, but it was delayed 5 hours from snow. I decided there was no point in wasting an opportunity to wear my new Joie fur vest or hat, so I wore both.

I will say one thing, a 5'11 girl + 3inch wedge booties at an airport at 3am is a sure fire way to draw attention to yourself. I am not one who usually likes to draw attention to myself, I just like to dress nice. (Apparently I didn't get the memo that wearing sweatpants and stained t-shirts while traveling is acceptable!)

Vest Joie
Boots Mossimo
Purse Burberry
Hat Nordstrom Rack

I have been watching a lot of the Rachel Zoe Project, and I loved all of her looks with hats, and since it was 3am and cold, I decided to wear an outfit inspired by some of her fall looks! So I wore a color block sweater I got from Nordstrom Rack with my fur vest. I normally would wear a black skinny pant but I couldn't find them, so I settled for leggings with thick wool socks in my booties.

My purse, a gift from my mother, is Burberry (similar to the one in the link). It's really interesting because of the texture. It is a gunmetal color with patent handles, but the majority of the bag is a scale-like texture. I have not yet seen anyone carrying a similar bag or found the exact model online, so I'm secretly hoping it might be rare!

Accomplishment

Today my sister arrives back from the USA Water Polo ODP Regional Championships. She spent the weekend in Ohio competing against some of the top players in East/West divisions for a chance to try out for the Junior National team. Before I gab more, let me give you some background on my sister the tryout process.

My sister and I have been playing water polo for about 4 years now. We began our freshman year in high school and managed to join an elite club team in the PNW by my sophomore year. There we trained 10 hours a week + games + 10 hours of swim practice. By our junior year we knew that we wanted to at least consider the idea of playing water polo in college so we made a list of dream schools and "attainable" schools.

Being a polo player from the North is tough. There aren't a lot of teams, the sport isn't nearly as popular as it is in southern California, and high school teams are there, the coaches just don't want to be.

So my sister and I made the best and added more training. During our high school season we were practicing more than 6 hours a day (2hrs h.s. + 2hrs club swim + 2hrs club polo), plus weekend tournaments and weight lifting. Our season went really well (I was named the state Defensive MVP and she set a scoring record for the state of 148 season goals!). We got the attention of a few schools, but most importantly, Long Beach State. From there my sister and I kept in touch with the LBSU coach. I realized about mid-August that I no longer had the same goals and made the tough decision not to sign with my sister to play at Long Beach. It was tough, I beat myself up for the decision for a long time, wondering Did I make the wrong decision? What if I change my mind? Are my parents going to be mad at me? But in the end, I'm glad I made the decision.

Fast forward about 5 months.

My sister tried out for the Regional Olympic Development Program team and was selected along with about 12 others to train for another tryout in 3 months. My sister, again, was chosen to continue on and play with the official PNW A Team at the Regional Championships this weekend.

I didn't get to fly out and watch her, which is hard! She and I do everything together! So when she called and told my mother she hadn't been selected to continue, my heart broke a little. But then moments later she texted me saying she had been selected, she just wanted to surprise my mother!

So I am so very proud of her, and I can't wait for her to fly out to Colorado Springs to the Olympic Training Center where she will get to tryout to have a spot on the Junior National Team!

Unfortunately with all the excitement comes the reality. In order for her to attend she has to raise $1000 for USA Water Polo, so if anyone is reading this and wants to make a donation, I would be so thankful. Here is the link to her donation page!
